Nate’s Truck Stop Tacos are Back in Town

We all mourned when Nate closed up shop on 2nd Street and while we will all miss him, the good news is that Nate Guttierez is back and will be slinging tacos in Carytown. Instead of being both the chief cook AND bottle washer, this time he will focus solely on the food and leave [...]

Nate Talk’s About His Demise

Nate Gutierrrez talked to Nathan Cushing about the demise of Truck Stop. Tacos are not a gourmet food that warrants high prices. “You can’t sell tacos for more than $3,” he said. As a result, Nate’s business model relies on a high volume of customers to generate revenue, and while Nate acknowledged an emphatic appreciation [...]

The Truck Won’t Stop Here Anymore

Sadly, Nate’s nationally renowned Taco Truck Stop on 2nd Street is closing it’s doors. Nate cites family obligations (he recently welcomed a new taquito into his house). Whatever the reason, he will be missed. I am going to stand in line for my chicken skin taco before they are all gone. Word is that the “truck” [...]

Richmond Famous at Gallery 5 Tonight

via Facebook: The Richmond Comedy Coalition’s all-improvised monthly show series, Richmond Famous, features live and totally unscripted comedy, created on the spot, inspired by the true stories of some of RVA’s most interesting people. The improvisers will be hearing their guests’ stories for the first time onstage. What unfolds afterwards is as much a mystery [...]

The Gray Lady Comes to Town

The New York Times swung through here about a month ago and sampled some of the local chow.  We’ve been anticipating their take on our signature neighborhood.  Here it is. via The New York Times dot Com At its zenith in the early 20th century, Jackson Ward, in Richmond, Va., was a thriving, multicultural quarter known as the Harlem of [...]

The Gray Lady and the Taco Truck

We already knew we had something special and now apparently so does the Big Apple.  Sure they got the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and some other good stuff, but they had to come all the way to Richmond to try out the crispy chicken skin tacos at Nate’s Taco Truck Stop.  I [...]

Kenn-Tico

Celebrate Year 2, Day 1 at Kenn-Tico

This is in lieu of the anniversary celebration I forgot to tell you about that took last night.  Brother Kenn tells me  it will be a repeat of last night’s slightly more robust celebration.  Kenn-Tico is another member of the food cart armada that put down roots as a brick and mortar restaurant.  Others on [...]

Living Social vs the Truck Stop

RVANews reports the “fine mess” created when the Living Social took Nate’s Taco Truck Stop for a bumpy ride. Living Social sold 442 coupons without the requested fine print. Coupons must be redeemed at the Truck Stop, not the food cart.  This caused some ruffled feathers when customers found they couldn’t redeem them at the food [...]

Get your Taco Truck Bucks Right Here

Hills and Heights reports Living Social is running a 1/2 price special for Nate’s Taco Truck.  My guess is these will be good at the Truck Stop too, but we’d follow the truck to wherever it stops. $10 gets you $20 at Nate’s Taco Truck

Nate’s Tacos Take the Cake

Richmond dot Com’s Jon and Leah Nelson see how Nate’s traditional tacos stack up against Boka Tako’s fusion flair.

Quickness RVA Comes to Jackson Ward

The popular bicycle delivery service is now serving Jackson Ward. Quickness RVA started delivering for Nates Taco Truck Stop on 2nd St in April. They should also start delivering for the new Thai Restaurant at 2nd and Marshall when they open next month.

Nate’s Tacos Take 2nd Place

Nate’s Taco Truck Stop took 2nd place in Richmond Dot Com’s Besties Award for Taco in Richmond.  This is pretty high praise in my opinion.  If you’ve ever wandered around the Southside, you know there’s an authentic Mexican taco stand on nearly every corner.  We’re glad Nate chose Jackson Ward to set up his “truck [...]
