Jammie Chasteen – Top 40 under 40

In case you missed, Style Weekly picked Monroe Ward entrepreneur Jammie Chasteen as one of Richmond’s Top 40 under 40. If Jesus had a Facebook page — and maybe he does — his disciples would be dressing more stylishly because of Jammie Chasteen. She’s a Christian in the often-godless world of fashion, and she’s a [...]

Wanna live in this mansion?

Well you can’t because it’s occupied by the Garden Club of Virginia, but the carriage house behind it. It’s off the street,  away from the noise on Franklin and comes with it’s own parking space.  I lived across the alley from the carriage house for nearly four years and always thought it was one of the [...]

Crozet House – Under the Radar

From a by gone era, this is more than just a relic. It has been in recent use and by the looks of it is in good shape. It hides at the corner of 1st and Main behind the Richmond Public Library. It has stood up against weather and war for nearly two centuries. Featured today in Historic Richmond's Under the Radar Facebook album.

4th Street Homicide

Another one minute police response, but somewhat meaningless for the victim and the neighborhood. This is the 2nd serious incident in as many weeks. Should clubs be held responsible for the actions of their patrons? Does the social and public costs of their doing business out weigh their contribution to the city's economy?

Let’s Win Another For the Wards

I’d hardly put these two in the same category, but both Perly’s and 3rd Street Diner are up for Best Greasy Spoon in another Richmond dot Com Bestie contest.   You know what to do.  Go forth and bring another one home for the Wards.
