So myself and a friend of mine voted for Diradour and it showed no change in the over all count. Either your app is broke or SHENANIGANS!
Seems to be working now. Last I checked it showed Samuels leading 4 votes to 2.
Of course, much of downtown / jackson ward is in a different district so . . .
Sounded like we had ourselves a vote machine fraud incident for a second. Except it’s usually big money interests that are the ones that benefit from the vote machines changing votes, and the big money interest in this campaign is Diradour.
Dude – please reconsider your vote for Diradour. While the chairman of the Zoning committee, Charlie Diradour imposed standards on other restaurants and other landlords, but exempted himself and his business partners from those same standards. That’s who Diradour is.
What’s he going to do on the City Council? More of the same. Diradour won’t be able to resist the temptation to use his position to advance his own business interests, because it’s in his nature to do so. And like he says, he’ll be doing that full-time.
i urge everyone in the 2nd district to consider carefully and then vote his/her own conscience. that’s what i try to do, with every election. the first step is to become informed on the issues and the characters of the candidates. in this case, it’s no-brainer. re-elect Charles Samuels.
Kicking Samuels off the council will leave those fools with ZERO lawyers on the council. If you listen to the meetings Samuels often brings up good points regarding the usefulness or necessity of law. Adding Diradour would elevate a property developer who has no interest in Richmond other than to elevate his own political ambitions! Vote Samuels!
So, you got a Councilman who did a pretty good job, and isn’t corrupt, and solves problems by listening to all the different sides. And people are voting him out? What is that?
I if d myself in the awkward position of voting for a councilman who I have found to be unresponsive and uninterested when I have tried to discuss important issues (suchnas the proposed closing of Monroe Park).
I am no great fan of Samuels, but he seems much, much better than Diradour.
(Apologies for typos in my last comment)
