Two More Assaults Near VCU

Reported Offense:  On Sunday 09/23/2012 @ approximately 2:08 A.M. an aggravated assault was reported to the VCU and Richmond Police Departments as having occurred on a sidewalk near the intersection of Broad Street and Gilmer Street.

Suspects: Two black males of unknown ages within a group of approximately four other males of unknown race.  The two suspects were wearing dark clothing.

Brief description of how the crime took place: The male victim was walking with a group of people in the area of Broad and Gilmer Streets when approached by the suspects.  The men punched the victim in the head causing a laceration to his mouth and head.  The two suspects then left the scene in an unknown direction of travel and the cause of the assault is unknown at this time.

Reported Offense:  On Thursday 09/20/2012 @ approximately 10:06 p.m., an aggravated assault was reported to the VCU Police Department as having occurred on a sidewalk near the intersection of Park Avenue and Linden Street.

Suspects: Two black males of unknown ages.  One suspect was wearing a red baseball hat and a white shirt with the second wearing all black clothing.  Both suspects are approximately 5’8” tall.

Brief description of how the crime took place: The male victim was sitting on a bench on the west side of the Cabell Library when he observed the two suspects, one of which was previously known to the victim.  Words were exchanged between the men and the victim was punched in the head causing a laceration to his mouth.  The two suspects then left the scene and were last observed walking northbound on N. Harrison Street towards Franklin Street.
