Secrets of the Rappahannock

Rappahannock, the new oyster bar/restaurant, is slated to open this fall at the former Louisiana Flair location at 4th and Grace. Part of Rappahannock River Oysters, here’s what RVANews’ Ross Catrow learned from owners Ryan and Travis Croxton during a recent conversation at their restaurant Merroir overlooking their family oyster farm.

Chef Fultineer will head up the kitchen at Rappahannock, RRO’s aptly named and soon-to-open Richmond outpost at 320 E. Grace Street. He’s got loads of experience at some pretty incredible eateries, including Blackbird in Chicago and Hungry Cat in LA. Rappahannock will, obviously, feature oysters and other seafood but will also focus on “composed” dishes, moving away from the recent small plates trend. You’ll be able to eat at the oyster bar (which will dominate the room), order a meal, or maybe even order a whole fish to share.
