Celebrate Ramadan in Old Jerusalem
For Muslims, Ramadan, is not only a time of fasting and prayer, but also a time of feasting and celebration. After a long day of abstaining from food and often drink, many families gather together to break their fast each evening after sunset for a traditional feast. I stumbled upon one last night downtown at the Old Jerusalem Restaurant at on 7th Street. Each evening during Ramadan they lay on a Middle Eastern buffet that will bring tears to the eyes of fasters or just ordinary hungry people like myself. It was 8:00 pm and people were just beginning to wander in. You are invited to wander in too to share in the food and the camraderie. The evening buffet is $15.99 for adults, 13.99 for students and $7.50 for children.
The feasting will go on through Saturday evening after sunset.
