A Barber(shop) Comes Home

It’s only right that the John Marshall Barbershop is back in the John Marshall Hotel cum Apartments, yes it turns out there is such a term.

Bill Lohman tell’s the story of Hugh Campbell’s long road home today’s (yesterday’s) Times-Dispatch.

“It doesn’t get any better than this,” Campbell said with the biggest of smiles as he welcomed me into his new old home Tuesday at The John Marshall Barber Shop.

More than five years ago, as work began on the hotel, Campbell left the friendly confines and set up temporary quarters across Franklin Street in a tiny, hole-in-the-wall spot with overhead pipes at the entrance to a parking garage. He expected to be gone for two years; he moved back two weeks ago.

“I’m glad it’s over, that’s for sure,” Campbell said.
