    From the RTD:

A man shot in the chin and armpit was in serious but stable condition at VCU Medical Center Saturday night after a shooting in downtown Richmond, police said. …

Richmond police Capt. Yvonne Crowder said a wounded man used his cellphone to call for help at 5:15 p.m. Officers responding found the wounded man on Clay Street between First and Second streets. She said witnesses saw two suspects running from the scene.

Crowder said the shooting apparently took place in the 300 block of North First Street, where police found shell casings. The crime was still under investigation by evening, with forensics officers and detectives working the case in a four-block area marked by crime tape and streets blocked by police vehicles.

A trail of fresh blood spattered the sidewalk along Second Street and a tiled entrance on the corner of Second and Clay. Crowder said the blood-specked path suggested that at least one suspect may have left the scene in a vehicle.
