Man Beaten on Broad Street
The RTD reports that Tuesday’s aggravated assault on Broad Street was a random and unprovoked attack on a 69 year old man by three “middle school” youths. Here are the details from the RTD website:
Violent-crimes detectives were searching Wednesday for three juvenile males believed to have been responsible for beating and injuring a 69-year-old man in an apparently random attack on a downtown sidewalk.
Police spokeswoman Dionne Waugh said detectives also were trying to establish a motive for the assault, which occurred at 6:14 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of East Broad Street.
Richmond police Capt. Paul Kiniry said the victim was taken to Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of facial injuries and a possibly serious shoulder injury after the attack.
Kiniry said the assault occurred as the man was walking along a sidewalk and was confronted by three juveniles, one of whom said, “I don’t like the way you look.” …
