Man tries to carjack a Richmond judge
At approximately 4:30pm on Wendesday, December 7, a Richmond judge was involved in an attempted car jacking outside of the John Marshall courthouse. The judge yelled for help while the suspect, David Thomas Lawler, 29, forcefully pulled on both the passenger and driver side handles, police said.
Lawler fled the scene after the judge’s yelling attracted nearby deputies. The deputies soon after apprehended Lawler, who is being held without bond and has been scheduled for a January 19, 2012 court appearance.
Police said that carjacking is a felony and conviction could result in either confinement in a state correctional facility for a minimum term of fifteen years.
