Have you been harassed at Kroger?
From a reader:
I want to share this with your readers. I am sick and fed up of being harassed in the Kroger parking lot. This morning my wife announced to me she will no longer shop at Lombardy and Broad after being approached by three different people for money. It is common place to get a sob story at the gas pump. Usually they need 10 or 20 dollars to get out of town, but there is never a car in sight. The latest occurrence was at the vacuum station behind the BP. While getting ready to clean, a “gentlemen” approached, asked me how I was doing and could I help you out for a couple bucks? If I wanted help I would have gone to a car wash and paid for it. I told him no three times and no, I can’t help a brother out, please go away. He finally left me alone and returned to his comrades across the street. Before I was done, he walked in the station, bought a pack of cigarettes, waved at me once more and walked away. That’s my story, what’s yours?

I got hit up for money in the Kroger parking lot this morning actually. Was unlocking my bike and a beggar started yelling at me from approx. 50 feet away that he just needed a few dollars. I ignored him and he started bothering someone else immediately.
I haven’t have a bad time with them in the kroger lot but the other week i had some super christian lady trying to push a pamphlet about “the biblical view of sex” we get it you think everyone is going to hell and we think you are crazy, you go your way and we will go ours just don’t bug us.
I did have a guy one time over at the grace/harrison 7-11 come up behind be while i was getting in my vehicle “trying to get a bag of ice” and was all offended when i got startled and wouldn’t give him money…
I feel bad for people that are down on their luck but harassing people gets them no where.
and lets be perfectly honest here, ghetto kroger already has enough reasons inside for us to boycott them ;)
the same thing has been happening to me the last few times i’ve been to the Lombardy Kroger store or gas station. the management is aware of it, but yesterday, they told me there was nothing they could do unless the person doing the begging, was an employee of theirs. i doubt that’s true. i suppose i’ll have to drive farther out to the Carytown Kroger now. it really bugs me tho.
I like the Kroger, and have not been harassed…yet. ha.
I was solicited just a couple of nights ago there. That’s a reason they hire police (though I only see them inside). I told the officer and he sent the guy packing. It was after dark — I don’t know if they have officers during the day. I find it little more than an annoyance, not a threat, so I will continue to shop there as needed.
