Crime Wave Goes Citywide

There was only one robbery in Greater Jackson Ward among this weekend’s citywide wave of armed robberies. There was no mention of a weapon. The crime wave is approaching epidemic proportions, yet the Mayor remains silent. He’s dogded a direct question and multiple requests for comments, meanwhile he has been busy on his own behalf, signing a neighborhood petition asking Occupy Richmond to unoccupy his neighbors front yard and scheduling yet another meeting with OR to discuss the matter.

Here are the grim facts of this weekend’s events. It goes to show that the problem is not local to Jackson Ward or any other neighborhood.

ROBBERY

• 317 E. Broad St.
• A clerk reported an unknown male robbed the Excel Paging and Wireless store.

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY

• 11/19/11 • 6:05 p.m.
• 2905 Chamberlayne Ave.
• Employees reported an unknown male tried to rob the Mega-Tel Wireless store.

3rd Precinct

ROBBERY

• 11/18/11 • 9:40 p.m.
• 6700 block of West Carnation Street
• A male reported he was robbed at gunpoint by an unknown male.

2nd Precinct

• 11/19/11 • 1:38 a.m.
• 1300 block of Cargreen Road
• Two males reported they were robbed within minutes of each other at gunpoint by an unknown male.

• 1500 block of Clarkson Road
• A male and female reported they were robbed at gunpoint by four unknown males.

• An adult male and a teen male reported they were robbed at gunpoint by two unknown males.

• A cashier reported an unknown male tried to rob the Family Dollar at gunpoint.
