Ettamae’s in the ToGo Cup

Ettamae’s is the latest feature In the ToGo Cup coffee blog.  In his very structured and thorough review, ToGo Cup’s anonymous blogger covers everything from the neighborhood, parking, and atmosphere to essentials like the food and coffee.  Here’s a few excerpts.

the place – what’s around?
Ettamae’s Cafe is located on a block that has potential to be one of the most intriguing entertainment stops in the city.  The renovation of the Hippodrome Theater is said to be completed this year and by the looks of it, that isn’t an impossibility…the place is really coming along! One of Ettamae’s owners,

coffee- good, bad or mugly? The coffee is good. Their house is from locally owned BLANCHARDS Coffee. It seems they only have a few choices, so if you’re looking for variety you can customize it with cream, cream & sugar, just sugar or black. They can also ice it up for you. Also, the cup comes with free refills, and they make the effort to check on you and make sure you’re topped off.

menu- bunch or linner?
They have a full menu of sandwich options and salads, with breakfast items till 11am. With some “unique” pasteries. I had an toasted CANADIAN TEA BISCUT with HOME MADE JELLY that was good, but I found myself fighting to keep it together.

noticeable regulars – “cheers” or who are these people?
Regulars – Probably, I saw a few folks dinning here that seem to know the place well. Jackson Ward residents are probably keen to how nice they have it over here, and because its one of only a few eateries open in the immediate area, now that Croaker Spot is closed, Ettamae’s has filled a niche.
