From the RPD:
Members of the area’s U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force arrested James Roderick Taylor Jr., 18, on Wednesday at the home he shared with his mother in the 1300 block of St. John Street in Richmond’s Gilpin Court public-housing complex.
The charges stem from the fatal shooting July 18 of William O. “Billy” Ennis III, 29.
The victim’s father, William O. Ennis II, said yesterday that he and his wife, Patty, are grateful for the work of the Richmond investigators involved with the case.
“We were very happy that he was apprehended before our son was buried,” Ennis said.
His son will be buried today next to his grandfather at Westhampton Memorial Park and Chapel Mausoleum in western Henrico County. The interment will be private.
Ennis said that on the night of the shooting, his son was headed home with his girlfriend and another friend after dinner at a restaurant near Virginia Commonwealth University and an evening of dancing and playing pool.
The son’s car was northbound on Belvidere and stopped at the traffic light at Marshall Street, his father said.
He said his son was shot after the car began moving. Police have said Ennis unknowingly drove into the line of fire. Authorities have not identified the intended target.
